Independent Legal Advice (ILA+) Program

The Independent Legal Advice (ILA+) Program is a pilot program with the mission of providing free legal advice and free legal information to survivors of sexual violence in South East New Brunswick (Westmorland and Albert counties). We also aim to offer emotional support to those who are considering reporting to the police or are currently going through the judicial process with their experience of sexual violence. 

What does this program entail?

Whether you are considering your legal options, only wish to know some legal information, or need support while going through the legal process, we can help you at any step of the journey. Even if you just need to speak to someone to figure out if reporting your experience of sexual violence is the right decision for you, we can help you decide what is the best option for you. Here are the services we can provide:

  • Free Legal Advice from a lawyer

  • Free Legal Information

  • Emotional Support + Accompaniment to the police or court

Who can Access these Services?

If you...

  • are 18 years or older

  • currently live in South East New Brunswick (Westmorland and Albert counties)

  • have experienced sexual violence in New Brunswick

  • are considering reporting to the police or you are currently navigating the legal system for your experience of sexual violence
